- Nino Farinawas the first-ever Formula 1 race-winner and the first champion in the history of Formula One. Born in Turin, Italy, in 1906, Emilio found his passion for motor racing early in his life – he drove a two-cylinder Temperino at the age of 9. He bought his first car while studying in the university – an Alfa Romeo, and competed with it in Aosta-Gran San Bernardo Hillclimb. Nino crashed and got hurt, but that didn’t stop him from racing. In 1934 he met the racing legend Tazio Nuvolari who guided his racing career. In 1935 he won with the Maserati factory team, which caught the attention of Enzo Ferrari. “Il Commendatore” recruited him for Scuderia Ferrari.
- Nino Farina remains in the history of car racing with his straight-arm style of driving, commonly copied by others. His active years in Formula 1 – 1950 – 1956 (Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Lancia). Last win – 1953 German Grand Prix.
